Kim Leblanc – Wound, Ostomy & Continence Institute Chair

Dr. Kim LeBlanc, PhD, RN, WOCC(C)
Kimberly LeBlanc is an Advanced Practice and Certified Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence working with KDS Professional Consulting. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Nursing from Queens University. Kimberly is an Adjunct Professor with the University of Western Ontario Masters in Wound Care Program and a visiting lecturer at the McGill University School of Nursing and University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine.

Kimberly is the president of the International Skin Tear Advisory Panel and a board member of the Canadian Association for Enterostomal Therapists. She is an international expert reviewer for the Joanna Briggs Institute in Australia and a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Advances in Skin and Wound Care. Kimberly has lectured nationally and internationally on wound and ostomy care and is considered an expert on wounds in the aging population. She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and 3 book chapters. Kimberly’s current area of research interest is skin health in the frail elderly.

In 2016 Kimberly was a World Union of Wound Healing Societies Educational Award of Excellence finalist and was awarded the Registered Nurses of Ontario Leadership Award in Nursing Education (Academic), and the prestigious Canadian Nurses Association Order of Merit for Nursing Education.

My name is Nicholas Joachimides, I’ve been a Registered Nurse for 19 years. I’m a very proud Centennial College diploma graduate. I went back to complete my BSc.N at St. Francis Xavier, and continued my studies at the graduate level at Western in the Masters of Wound Healing. I completed a second masters in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at UofT. As well as a certificate in Infection Prevention and Control at Queens. I’ve completed an RNAO Advanced Clinical Practice Fellowship in Pediatric Pain Management.

I started my career in acute pediatrics at Scarborough General, and have spent 18 years at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation, as a Inpatient Nurse, Day Program Coordinator, Ambulatory Care Nurse, Clinical Educator, Manager of Patient Safety, and most recently Operations Manager on the Brain Injury Rehab Team. I’ve also worked 11 years part time as a Corrections Nurse in a Maximum Security Jail. My experience in continence management was during my time as Spinal Cord Injury/Spina Bifida Nurse, and as a Clinical Educator on a busy orthopedic rehab unit .

Originally from Montreal , I’m a huge fan of the Montreal Canadiens, and still dream of playing in the NHL. In my spare time I enjoy going to concerts and playing hockey as much as possible. I can be reached at njoachimides@wocinstitute.ca
