Practice Enrichment Series – Paramedics

The WOC Institute is pleased to announce the launch of the

PRACTICE ENRICHMENT SERIES PARAMEDICS

This state-of-the-art program is designed to provide community care paramedics with the ability to provide optimal wound care in collaboration with an interprofessional team.

The Practice Enrichment Series for Paramedics is a competency-based, beginner program in wound management. The course is a state of the art, competency-based, self-paced online program facilitated by a team of CNA certified NSWOCs. Onsite programs are available upon request. Contact the NSWOC through our contact page should you be interested in accessing our onsite education delivered by specialized NSWOCs.

The topics will be taught through the eyes of a first responder through initial triage, treatment, and minimization of further damage. The goal of the program is to provide paramedics with knowledge about timely and appropriate wound intervention to positively impact patient outcomes through minimizing patient transfers to hospital and improving communications with community nurses and primary care providers.

How to Apply:

Online application. Applications are accepted throughout the year and the program has a rolling start (students can start the program anytime during the year).

Step 1: Register with NSWOC as a “Skin Health Practice Enrichment Series Associate

In order to apply, please click the link below. You will be brought to the NSWOCC members-only page to begin your registration with NSWOCC. Please choose “Skin Health Practice Enrichment Series Associate” from the dropdown menu.

Step 2: Register for a Course

Once you complete your registration, you will have access to the members-only area. On the left-hand side of the NSWOCC members-only section home page, you will see a list of buttons under “I would like to:”

  1. Select “Register for Courses”.
  2. Select the course you’d like to register for by selecting “Add”, then choose “Register” at the bottom. The course is called “Paramedic Skin Health Practice Enrichment Series Wound Management, Paramedic Wound Management
Step 3: Complete the Prerequisites

Each course has a list of prerequisites needed in order to complete your application to the program. The prerequisites are displayed in a list with a description under each one for your convenience when applying.
